VISION, MISSION AND GOALS OF HEAD START

Vision Statement:

Chesterfield-Marlboro Head Start will employ professional staff to provide quality childcare in accredited centers to children age 3-4 living in Chesterfield and Marlboro counties. We will provide them with comprehensive educational curriculum that will include family case management, technology training to children, families and staff, parent involvement and health services.

Mission Statement:

The mission of Chesterfield-Marlboro Head Start is to improve motor skills, self-esteem and the quality of life in three and four year old children through cooperative and collaborative services by the governing bodies, parents and staff.

Head Start Goals:

Head Start is a family development program. The overall goal of the program is to increase the social competence of children, and to achieve that, Head Start provides the child and his/her family with comprehensive services. In the Chesterfield-Marlboro Head Start program we provide:

  • Education services to help improve the child's skills
  • Medical services and health education
  • Dental services and dental education
  • Mental health services to ensure healthy emotional development
  • Nutrition services and nutrition education
  • Services to families through linkages to appropriate community agencies
  • Parent involvement in the classroom and home visits
  • Parent involvement in making decisions about programs and activities which parents develop
