EATURED P ROGRAMS
In PY 2009, in compliance with section 676(b)(1)(B), the States Youth Leadership Program (YLP) will provide income-eligible elementary, middle and high school students educational opportunities targeting individual improvements in academic, behavioral and social achievement, resulting in increased self-sufficiency. Students who complete the program will be able to describe how good character aids in the attainment of their goals, emotional health and healthy relationships. The Community Services Block Grant provides direct services to an excess of 900 families and individuals and leveraged services to more than 11,800 families and individuals in Chesterfield and Marlboro Counties annually. CSBG provides direct services through the Job Promotion, Youth Leadership, General Emergency Assistance, Community Food and Nutrition and the CSBG Energy Support Programs. The Job Promotion Program provides financial assistance for child care to low-income households to assist them in obtaining and/or maintaining employment, to attend school or college, or to participate in job training programs.
